In recent years, people have been falling head over heels for unique art forms and sculptures that ignite their imagination and spark their creativity. And guess what? Clay has taken center stage in this creative revolution. Brad Pitt, Shailene Woodley, Selena Gomez, and Seth Rogen are among the many celebrities that have succumbed to the charm of this artistic medium, embracing pottery as a means of expression. It comes as no surprise as clay possesses a remarkable ability to establish a profound connection with nature, evoke a sense of tranquility, and empower us to mold the extraordinary from a humble lump of earth.

Two years ago, Zagreb welcomed a brand new ceramic studio called Beshland, which quickly became a beacon of artistic innovation. And at the heart of it, all was Mateja Šijan, a truly gifted artist who decided to follow her passion for ceramics after an adventurous stint in England and Denmark. Returning to her roots in Zagreb, she had a clear vision: to create her own artistic haven.

And boy, did she succeed! In the charming neighborhood of Ravnice, Mateja opened the doors to a place that is more than just a studio, a sanctuary for art lovers, actually - Beshland. 

With her unique style and unmistakable touch, Mateja's creations breathe life into the simplest of forms. Fascinated with the beauty of nature and inspired by people, moods, and emotions, each piece made by Mateja features her striking signature style that effortlessly merges elegance and simplicity. From enchanting vases and exquisite sculptures to charming cups and mugs, each piece possesses a distinct personality that will leave a lasting impression. Whether proudly displayed in your home or serving as the vessel for your favorite brew, these remarkable creations are guaranteed to spark conversation among your guests.

But here comes the best part: Beshland isn't your typical gallery where you passively admire the artwork from afar. No, no! It's an interactive wonderland where you can not only feast your eyes on the mesmerizing pieces but also participate in the creative process. The studio acts as a creative hub, fostering a sense of community and enabling individuals to express themselves through the transformative power of clay. Imagine getting your hands dirty, feeling the softness of the clay, and crafting your very own masterpiece. Sounds amazing, don't you think?

Pottery Workshops

The workshops are held every Friday and last two hours. You don't need to be a professional; pottery class is your chance to be creative, even if you are not ''artsy''. Hey, if Seth Rogen and Brad Pitt can do it, so can you. 

Here you'll have the opportunity to create your own unique item with all the necessary materials and tools provided, along with a glass of wine. Once you have completed your masterpiece, the Beshland team will guide your work through three essential stages in the oven. First, the biscuit baking will ensure the initial hardening of your creation. Next, the glazing process will add a stunning and protective finish. Finally, the pieces will undergo the final baking, ensuring durability and usability for years to come. Approximately six weeks later, your finished pottery will be ready for collection.

The workshops are held in a studio located at Hegedušićeva 12B, Zagreb, and the price is 40 euros.
