Sometimes, you don't need much for happiness; even a little is enough. A beautiful hilly landscape that even the Romans could not resist, rich vineyards, and delicious local food made from fresh ingredients. You can find all this in the Zagorje region in the small place of Gornjaki where the charming Bolfan Vinski Vrh awaits you.
Wine Made With Love
Throughout history, Zagorje has built a proud tradition of growing vines and making intoxicating and seductive wines that no one can resist. There are legends and stories from the era of the Roman Empire about the vineyards in that area. It was not only the Romans who discovered the fertile land ideal for the production of the finest wines. Throughout history, there were also medieval feudal owners who cultivated vines. Today, we have the Bolfan Vinski Vrh located in the village of Gornjaki in the middle of Zagorje. Their goal is to reach the pinnacle of wine production. Wine that is completely natural and offers exhilarating freshness, seductive aromas, and intoxicating floral varietal scents for all those who love and enjoy wine and always aspire and seek more.
Bolfan flavors range from very light, fresh notes, such as the Bolfan wine series, to the large Bolfan Primus series. Namely, the word Primus, in the Old Latin language, means first among equals. This very word says a lot about this wine. It is more robust with long-term maceration in the initial processing stage and longer aging in the cellar and then in the bottle. At the first sip, you will recognize those full aromas, a long-lasting nasal taste, and the wine that is softer on the tongue. These wines have won many awards; bronze, silver, and gold medals are no strangers to them. We can mention the last medals from Decanter 2021/ London, when Natura Traminac 2017 won a bronze medal, as well as Bolfan Rhine Rizling 2020. The same year, at the Concours Mondial du Sauvignon 2021 competition, Sauvignon Blanc Bolfan 2020 won a gold medal.

They always gladly take you to their wine-tasting rooms, a seminar room, a Vinski Vrh restaurant, a souvenir shop, a wine cellar, and the estate for nice walks, sightseeing, maybe a wonderful picnic, or team building. The pleasant ambiance entices you to taste wine and enjoy local homemade food made from ingredients that came from nearby family-owned farms.
The Bolfan wine cellar offers five double rooms, exclusively decorated. If you want, you can organize for larger groups (5-45 people), attend blues wine tastings on Fridays, business seminars, team buildings, and horseback riding tours in the vineyard or archery in the clearing next to the Wine Cellar. You will not be able to resist the picturesque Zagorje landscape that leaves you breathless at first sight. Peace, beautiful scenery, delicious wines, and local food are just what each of us needs to recharge our batteries.
Local Cuisine in a Modern Way
The Bolfan winery is located in untouched nature, on top of a hill next to the village of Hraščina. Therefore, it is very important to them that the menu is based on seasonal ingredients which are sourced from the local farms. This is exactly how they provide their guests with interesting dishes inspired by indigenous cuisine. Each plate is well thought out, and with Bolfan wine it provides a perfectly irresistible symbiosis.
