The Magnificent Golden Bay
This article is not plausible without mentioning the magnificent Golden Bay. Just a few km north of the small town of Stara Baška, a sandy beach peeks out from under the high monumental rocks where local griffon vultures usually inhabit, with two smaller caves located next to the beach. It sounds like something out of Greek myth, but no, this is an actual location.
Due to the rough and steep landscape, this beach is only accessible by boat, which is why it is very popular among boaters. There are no restaurants or other facilities so it's trully an untouched little paradise for you to enjoy.
The high limestone rock falls steeply towards the beach, where the yellow color of the stone merges with the crystal blue of the Adriatic.
South Side of Krk Island
The island's southwest side hides many lesser–known beaches, and we have singled out a few for you, starting with Oprna beach. Oprna is located in a beautiful bay near Stara Baška. The white pebble beach is about 200 meters long, and it can be reached through several paths leading from the main road. The easiest thing way to access this beach is by boat.
You can find a café here, and deck chairs with umbrellas are available for rent since there is no natural shade on the beach. The landscape is predominantly desert-like, with low vegetation, sand and bare rocks. Near Oprna beach there are also several other small and secluded beaches you can reach by walking alongside the coast.
On the other side of the island, the one facing the Velebit channel, many locations are ideal for several hours of walking by the sea and enjoying the beautiful views. Countless hiking trails lead to the coves where the beaches of Dubna, Konjska, Gnjilova, and Vela Luka are situated. Due to the inaccessible landscape, it is doubtful that you will meet someone on the mentioned secluded beaches even in the middle of summer.
It is important to remember that there is no content on most of these well-hidden beaches, which are far away from roads. However, you can count on complete zen.
