Papuk Nature Park

Can you believe Papuk was once an island in the Pannonian Sea? Standing tall above Slavonia's flatlands, Papuk is a majestic mountain cloaked in natural wonders. The Papuk Nature Park lures adventurers with its diverse landscapes – dense forests, cascading waterfalls, and rugged cliffs. Trails like Jankovac-Češljakovački Vis and the Papuk Circular Trail wind through ancient beech forests and past hidden caves adorned with stalactites. And when you reach the summit, prepare to be blown away by panoramic views of the surrounding plains.

Covering an area of 336 square kilometers, Papuk Nature Park is home to over 1,400 plant species, making it a haven for biodiversity enthusiasts. Visitors can also delve into the park's rich cultural heritage, including archaeological sites dating back to the Neolithic period.

Sokolovac Hill - Požeška Gora

Tucked away at the southern edge of Požega lies Požeška Gora, a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. This area boasts well-maintained trails that meander through picturesque vineyards just a stone's throw from the city center. The "Staza Sokol" offers hikers a peek into the region's history, leading to the Sokolovac viewpoint with its panoramic city views. Along the way, informative panels enhance the experience, offering insights into the area's flora, fauna, and geological wonders.

Požeška Gora is renowned for its wine production, and hikers can explore vineyards and wineries along the trail, sampling local varietals such as Graševina and Frankovka. The area is also steeped in history, with remnants of ancient settlements and medieval fortifications dotting the landscape.

Omanovac- Psunj Mountain

North of Nova Gradiška and southeast of Pakrac, Psunj Mountain reigns as the highest peak in Slavonia. Its slopes are crisscrossed with 23 hiking trails, offering adventurers a playground of exploration. Omanovac, a beloved destination for hikers, treats visitors to stunning vistas at 655 meters above sea level. Climbers can test their skills on the limestone cliffs, while activities such as barbecuing and paragliding add excitement to the experience.

Krndija Mountain

Majestically rising near Našice, Krndija Mountain invites adventurers to uncover its rugged beauty. The journey to its summit promises panoramic views of Slavonia's plains, guiding hikers through ancient oak forests and rocky terrain. Kapovac, the highest peak at 790 meters, offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Accessible from the Međe pass, the trail to Kapovac is a popular choice for those seeking a short yet rewarding hike.

Krndija Mountain is steeped in folklore and legend, with tales of mythical creatures and ancient rituals woven into its history. The area is also home to diverse wildlife, including deer, wild boar, and various bird species, making it a paradise for nature enthusiasts.

Slavonia may not boast towering peaks or dramatic landscapes, but its hiking trails offer a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and outdoor adventure. Whether you're scaling the heights of Papuk or exploring the rugged terrain of Krndija, each trail promises an unforgettable journey through the heart of Slavonia's untamed wilderness.
