Like at the famous Korzo promenade, the people are coming and going constantly, laughing, enjoying the great view, taking pictures. But also their rich offer of food, wine, and sweet specialties. What we also love is interior design. Grad is a perfect example of how modern and clean lines can be elevated into a form of art. Earthly colors, such as olive green, brown, and beige, are complemented by bright color pops, such as purple, blue, and pink. And the little details, such as unique lighting and plants, bring sunshine into the café. What will surely amaze you is the wallpaper with poppies by Ela Šefanec, which gives a unique touch to Grad café. The cafe was decorated by the architect Andreja Bušić Varagić and the academic sculptor Darija Žmak Kunić.

What to try in Grad café? 

Under the leadership of young chef Karlo Moretti, on this cafe's menu, you will find dishes such as duck breast on green apple cream, mackerel gratin, roast beef sandwich, tuna and steak tartare, and so much more. A lot of interesting street food dishes, like a burger, bao buns, noodles, falafel, and salads - all are made of fresh ingredients that are mostly bought at the nearby food market. 

As the local's favorite Kaokakao pastry shop has the same owner as Grad café, you can also try delicious desserts by Kaokakao. Although we have to warn you, as each and every dessert looks like a work of art, it will be pretty hard to choose just one. But this time, forget about the diets, and treat yourself! This café in Kvarner Bay also has a great wine list with the best Croatian wines. But also delicious cocktails and a wide range of spirits, including craft gin, vodka, rum, etc.

Rijeka is the perfect place to combine the sun and beach with sightseeing, cultural events with vibrant nightlife, and traditional food with a modern one. Just like the name says, Rijeka (Croatian for river) is a city that flows with lots of energy, power, and a lot of hidden gems waiting to be discovered. And one of that gems is definitely Grad Kavana.
