Fascinating and moving tribute to the Titanic
The museum's exhibits are beautifully curated and offer a comprehensive look at the Titanic's history, construction, and, ultimately, its tragic end. The museum has an extensive collection of original artifacts, including items that belonged to the passengers and crew, such as clothing, letters, and personal belongings. The letters of passengers and crew members are certainly only one part of the story in which we can learn more about people, moments, and their feelings. These letters provide a fascinating insight into the lives of those aboard the ship, as well as the events that led to its tragic end. Quite special, don't you think?
Story of Titanic and Croats
In April 1912, thirty Croats boarded the Titanic, and 27 of them lost their lives. Their story with the Titanic was supposed to be a story that would lead them to a new and better life, a really positive story that unfortunately turned into a sad one, and dreams became an unfortunate reality. Mr. Turčin Stjepan was a farmer from a small settlement near Pisarovina. He barely bought a ticket to the Titanic and a happier future, for which he had the help of friends and family, who hoped that when Stjepan found his way, he would lead them to a better life as well. But, unfortunately, Stjepan lost his life, along with more than 1,500 people who may have shared the same dreams and desire for a better and more exciting future. In honor of Mr. Stjepan and the other Croats from the Titanic, the Titanic Memorial House was established. In the beginning, it was just the Titanic 100 association, and this temporary exhibition later became a permanent exhibition that attracts an increasing number of visitors to the town of Bratina every day.
Visitors can learn about the ship's construction, its fateful voyage, and the aftermath of the disaster. Among many exhibits, there are original pieces of coal that fell in the ocean when the hull got broken in half, replicas of life jackets, steel rivets used in the ship's construction, as well as some props used in James Cameron's movie.
But what sets this museum apart is the personal touch. The staff at the museum are knowledgeable and passionate about the Titanic's story, and they go out of their way to ensure that visitors have an immersive and enjoyable experience. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and it's hard not to get caught up in the excitement and emotion of the museum. In addition to its exhibits, Spomen kuća Titanic also hosts a variety of educational programs and events, including lectures, workshops, and film screenings. These programs offer visitors a deeper understanding of the Titanic's story and its impact on history.
