The Tale of Baraka Winery
Today, we decided to tell you an enchanting story of Baraka Winery, nestled in the picturesque vineyards of Dalmatia on the Srima peninsula. It all began back in the late 1980s when this family started making wines for personal pleasure and intimate gatherings. What began as a passion quickly blossomed into a legacy. Gordan Baraka, a true visionary, planted the first vineyard in Šibenik in 2005. And in 2013, a new chapter started with the construction of a stunning wine cellar, embracing the traditional charm of Dalmatian architecture. Today, under the guidance of Filip Baraka, the winery thrives, producing delightful reds, whites, and rosés.
Spanning over six hectares, the estate boasts more than 25,000 grapevines, nurturing a rich variety of local and international grapes. From the bold Babić and Plavina to the fragrant Maraština and the renowned Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon – every bottle shares a tale of meticulous care and heartfelt passion.
An Idyllic Setting Perfect for Wine Adventure
As you step in, be prepared for not just the scent of grapes but also a breathtaking view of 360 olive groves and a beautiful blend of Mediterranean flora weaving through the vineyards, creating an enchanting vista. Take a moment to soak in the sheer beauty that envelops you—a perfect fusion of nature's gifts and the artful craft of winemaking dancing together in perfect sync. It's like a stunning masterpiece painted by nature itself, and you're right in the heart of it.
The winery itself, designed in the traditional Dalmatian architectural style, opens its doors to a world of wine appreciation. Explore the winery's nooks and crannies, from the modern barrique aging cellar to the heart of the winemaking process. You'll not be all alone in this; the passionate winemaker will take you through each step by showcasing the unique qualities of Baraka wines, including flights of their current releases and library tastings of aged vintages.
But what's wine without its companions, right? Delight your taste buds with Dalmatian flavors – locally sourced cheese, prosciutto, and the estate's velvety extra virgin olive oil create a symphony alongside the wines.
After indulging in Baraka's exquisite wines, take a leisurely stroll to the nearby Christian basilica from the 5th century, embraced by vineyards and olive groves, adding an ancient allure to your visit. This is the perfect place to take a few pictures, which will always remind you of these breathtaking wine moments.
