From An Idea To Realization That Will Impress The World

The idea was to build one of the most luxurious marinas in the world. Consequently, ACI-Gitone made the offer for Porto Baroš, which should employ 132 people. In this investment, Gitone focuses on designing and constructing luxury mega yachts, while ACI brings expertise in marinas. Actually, ACI-Gitone was jointly founded by ACI marinas and Gitone Kvarner, a company owned by the famous German shipbuilding family Lürssen.

Lürssen is a family-run company dating back more than 140 years. With its roots in racing boats, it later specialized in military ships. Today, it is the world's leading manufacturer of super luxury mega yachts like the Octopus, Rising Star, Pelorus, and many more. They also expanded their business into tourism in recent years, and in 2019, their company Gitone became the owner of Opatija's Liburnia Riviera Hotel. Additionally, they opened a shipbuilding engineering office in Rijeka and began hiring engineers. Engineering support will be provided for their German shipyards. Among the tasks the team will perform are project documentation and similar tasks. Furthermore, Lürssens has acquired a concession from the Torpedo factory to build their offices.

The Largest & Most Luxurious Investment in Croatian Nautical Tourism

One of the biggest investments in nautical tourism in Croatia is the marina at Porto Baroš. A total of 260 berths make Rijeka the Adriatic centre for mega yachts. Guests on vessels will be able to moor and stay at the future port of nautical tourism.

The coastal land strip will also offer catering, shopping, and parking services. There are piers for boat accommodation, a reception, a workshop for boat maintenance and repair, a space for boat servicing, and a pump at the marina. Catering and commercial facilities will include accommodations for boaters, restaurants, and shopping centres as well as congress tourism services. Shopping centres and small boutiques will be found within the central building. Additionally, there is a restaurant, a lounge bar, and a rooftop pool, with stunning views of the marina. With five anchors, which only three Croatian marinas currently possess, ACI Marina Rijeka aims to become an elite marina, according to ACI-Gitone.

The marina in Porto Baroš will be fully ready for the arrival of mega yachts in Croatia, which will also bring better-paying guests. As a result, investments have been made in the Hilton Rijeka and Opatija is being elevated to the status of a premium destination.

It is planned that the marina will open in 2024, and work on the land part, namely, the main building, will begin in 2025. The opening of one of the most attractive nautical destinations is eagerly awaited by many yacht owners.
