In the heart of Baranja, in Bilje near Osijek, along the picturesque banks of Biljsko lake, lies Čingi Lingi Čarda. A restaurant with an enchanting interior, rich tradition, and delicious food. This impressive restaurant has a touching and rich history. Well-known in Baranja but also in the rest of Croatia, this restaurant was filled with sounds of good Bečar music, smelled of delicious meals, and delighted its guests, who would always leave the restaurant smiling and with full bellies. Unfortunately, however, during the war, this hundred-year-old restaurant was destroyed entirely. Now, after thirty years, it has been completely restored, and it delights everyone so much that there is always a demand for more tables, and reservations are accepted even a few weeks in advance.

Interior We Fell in Love With

The beautiful coast of the Biljsko lake and a restaurant blends so beautifully into nature that when sitting on the terrace, you have the impression that if you reach out a little more, you can touch the water. In the evening at dusk, it is really wonderful to sit on the terrace of Čingi Lingi Čarda; peace, tranquility, and the sunset that bathes in the lake sets a mood that nobody can be indifferent to. Sometimes pictures speak louder than words or experience, but we will try to describe the interior. A combination of modern with a touch of rusticity, as if it has always been in this place. Everything fits so naturally and provides wonderful harmony and comfort to the space. The spirit of the past conquers hearts, and what looks rustic contributes to the feeling of coziness. Attractive cane chandeliers complement and connect with nature, reminiscent of sedges by the river. Fishing nets connect the former restaurant with the present one. Many such details tell the rich story of this extraordinary restaurant.

Gastronomy That Is Heaven for the Palate

The food is always fresh, and most of it is obtained from local producers. Also, the fish comes from the ponds of the surrounding fishermen, and meat from local farms and butchers. In a beautiful restaurant on the Biljsko lake, try the specialties of traditional Baranja cuisine enriched with a modern way of preparation.

Grilled dishes, fish and meat specialties, salads, and vegan dishes are fantastically complemented with delicacies and wines. We suggest you start with crispy carp chips, followed by the main course of catfish perklet, and round it all off with Juliška's plums. Carp chips are indeed a delicacy you should not skip, as well as catfish perklet, a traditional Baranja delicacy. But, undoubtedly, the most famous dessert of Čing Lingi Čara is Juliška's plums, a dessert that will surely make you return to this fantastic restaurant.

If you want to burn all those calories or maybe make room for more of Čingi Lingi's delicious food, there are plenty of places to visit. We'll just name two. Firstly, you don't need to go further than the restaurant itself; Biljsko lake is beautiful all year round and will provide you with gorgeous sights you can uncover during your walk. 

And second, if you're feeling adventurous, you can visit the Amazon of Europe, Kopački Rit Nature park. It is between the rivers of Drava and Danube and is one of Europe's best-preserved flood plains. This exciting nature park will amaze you with its rich biodiversity, especially if you take a boat ride through its mysterious marshes.
