Alfred Keller Restaurant: The Culinary Star of Mali Lošinj

Alfred Keller is a first-class fine-dining restaurant located in one of the most luxurious hotels on the island of Lošinj. The Boutique Hotel Alhambra is voted one of the top 10 best hotels in Europe and is also a member of the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels of the World and Virtuoso chain.

Such praise is partly due to the opulent atmosphere that the hotel offers to its guests. It is also because of the elegant dining experience of the Alfred Keller Restaurant, a proud owner of a Michelin star and 16.5 Gault & Millau points. Of course, with all the titles mentioned above, it's redundant to say anything more. The Alluring Bay of Čikat

Located on the western coast, Čikat bay is the island's deepest and most protected bay, and it is praised for many reasons. The naturally beautiful bay surrounded by the 19th-century forest park of Aleppo pine trees was also one of the favorite vacation spots for the Austrian nobility. The historic Austrian villas are now transformed into hotels, and Boutique Hotel Alhambra & Villa Augusta is housed in one of them.

The building was designed in 1912 by one of the leading Austrian architects of that time, Alfred Keller. The refined Art Nouveau architecture of the villa is harmoniously blended with the hotel's modern design. Together they form a unique, intimate space that exudes discreet luxury and comfort.

The inspiring interior of the restaurant, with a spacious terrace overlooking the bay, gives a fair impression that you are walking into one of Europe's best restaurants. The composition of warm natural colors and floor-to-ceiling windows with a fantastic panoramic view of the island's landscape embodies a welcoming atmosphere.

Croatian Tradition and Austrian Innovation

The head of the Alfred Keller cuisine is a young Austrian chef Michael Gollenz, whose work philosophy is "to respect the Croatian tradition without compromising innovation". The praise that restaurant has been showered with says the young chef is doing pretty well in his intention to bring the best fine dining experience.

Founded on the chef's classic French cooking techniques, the ever-changing menu with fish and meat at the center is composed of only the freshest local ingredients from the island and its surroundings. The names of the dishes, like Adriatic fish fillet pan-roasted fennel kulen, or scampi tartare with thai salsa mint, already speak volumes about the progressive cooking approach by blending the diverse flavors. Other recommended dishes are baked seabream fillet, short rib paprika bbq, and Adriatic langoustine in Thai sauce - the chef's signature dish. But whatever you choose, you can't go wrong because all the dishes exude exceptional freshness, creativity, and exceptional taste.

The pastry department, with pastry chef Dragica Milardić Ćuk, is not lagging, providing you with an exquisite array of pralines and desserts.

Thanks to sommelier Filip Veselovac, the carefully curated wine program of the Alfred Keller Restaurant has won the "Best of Award of Excellence" title according to the 2022 Restaurant Awards presented by the American magazine Wine Spectator. The impressive selection includes some of the best wines of Croatia and the Balkans but also expands to the rest of the world, exploring both Old and New World wine regions. The expansive range of products is meant to satisfy even the most demanding palates.
