In the very heart of green Međimurje, surrounded by vineyards with the most beautiful terrace, lies Terbotz restaurant. Namely, this manor, which dates back to the 19th century, has been upgraded, and today it houses a top hospitality and wine facility that will leave absolutely no one indifferent. The Jakopić family, which owns this restaurant, gave this old manor its soul back while preserving this region's tradition.
Conecting Food, History and Place
Terbotz was built in the 19th century as a manor of the Terbocz and Zichy noble families. These two large families owned a lot of land in Međimurje. And they were exceptionally aware of all this region's advantages, especially the fertile land perfect for growing vines, which is manifested in the wine cellar built in 1803. In 1957, the last owner of the manor, Terbocz Ilona, passed away, and the Republic of Croatia inherited the manor. The Jakopic family bought out the estate, and spouses Branimir and Nadica built this beautiful restaurant which they named Terbotz, in honor of previous owners and the estate's rich history. Now that we know more about the history of this place, it's time to get acquainted with the restaurant itself.
Since 2002, the aromas of traditional cuisine that no one can resist have been spreading around Terbotz. It is a place that exudes tradition, where the tastes of the most delicious meals engulf you in a feeling of pure joy and happiness, and a place where there is no shortage of wine. The first thing that will probably surprise you is the appearance and position of the mansion. The manor itself is surrounded by beautiful green hills filled with vineyards, a view that, at first glance, will take your breath away. The restaurant's interior nurtures a traditional warm look, inviting you to a pleasant gathering. Just imagine eating Međimurje gibanica by the crackling fire from a beautiful fireplace. It can't get any better, can it?

Terbotz Restaurant Toasts Međimurje's Rich History with Traditional Dishes
Food is undoubtedly tastier when it's homemade. That could be one of the reasons why the Terbotz restaurant is so popular. Namely, all the foods they use grow in Međimurje. Food is also procured from their orchards, gardens, forests, and rivers. To make traditional food a priority, the owners employ people from Međimurje.
Let's start the story with an appetizer, as it usually goes. Dry meat, smoked sausage, cottage cheese and cream, goose liver spread, dry beef tongue, or game meat. Traditional, homemade, and most importantly: delicious. If you are more into warm appetizers, don't miss Trganci with cabbage. This is homemade pasta, handmade, fresh in combination with stewed cabbage and dry meat. And we don't need to mention that everything in the Terbotz Restaurant is made by hand from local ingredients, including all the pasta on the menu.
The choice of main dishes is extensive, so even the pickiest eaters will find something to their taste. Among others, you can choose pork sirloin in a spicy sauce, veal loin, noble turkeys, steak with penny bun sauce, trout casserole, as well as salty štrukli for vegetarians. As for, at least with us, the most beloved part of every meal, the dessert, Terbotz did not leave an easy decision. You can choose between Međimurska gibanica, štrukl, homemade ice cream, or Wine chateau pancakes. Your choice will not be easy, for sure! To embellish all your meals, you can choose wines from the Jakopić family wine shop.
Award-Winning Restaurant
Terbotz has won numerous awards for its high-quality work. Specifically, cook Silvia Horak won a Gault & Millau trophy for traditional cuisine in 2021. That's not all; they have been in the leading 100 restaurants eight times, 2009, 2011, 2014,2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. In addition to the awards for gastronomy, Jakopic wines are winning numerous domestic and foreign awards, including the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards competition.
